About the role

Join us in this exciting role and support the SMG Finance team as our new Director Accounting.

In this position you will be responsible for 3 individual teams looking after the Consol, General Ledger, Tax, Audit / Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable / Payroll & Time Management.
You will make a direct contribution to the success of SMG and ensure that your teams reach goals not only from a professional viewpoint but also in an enjoyable and fun environment.
Your interpersonal skills will help to shape and guide the people in your organization as well as be an inspiring leader to move the whole department to the next level.
Your goals as Director Accounting
  • Leading and developing the accounting function and teams for SM Group, end to end
  • Ensure the integrity of all financial information in accordance with accounting principles (IFRS and local)
  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Financial consolidation
  • Planning, organizing and coordinating the year-end close process with internal and external auditors
  • In charge of overall tax compliance
  • Work with ERP and FP&A teams on improving processes and systems
  • Improve and maintain the company's internal control system
  • Hiring, training and retaining competent accounting managers and staff
  • Collaboration and responsibility for special projects/sub-projects (M&A, mergers, etc.)
What will keep you busy
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements according to the required standards (OR and IFRS) incl. consolidation and required audits
  • Regular monitoring of cash management and liquidity control
  • Ongoing and improvement of accounting processes incl. payroll accounting and ICS
  • Ensuring successful completion of the company's direct and indirect tax filings
  • Manage monthly payroll and operate time management process
  • Manage shareholder affairs from an accounting perspective
  • Operational cash management and liquidity control
About you

We already know you're talented, but here are some other requirements for the role:
  • A decade-long experience in accounting
  • Several years in people management and team leading of a larger Accounting department
  • Solid experience in financial consolidation
  • Professional experience in the areas of IFRS and SWISS GAAP FER and in-depth knowledge of Swiss Tax
  • Experience with quoted, larger corporates
  • Degree in business administration (University/FH/HF/NDS)
  • Certified public accountant
  • Fluent in German and English
